Stop circling for legal street parking. Reserve a fixed commercial spot with real foot traffic — same place, same hours, so your customers always know where to find you.
Every food-truck booking comes with these baseline rules (hosts can add their own):
Airport lots charge $20–40 a day and economy fills up. Neighbors near the airport rent their driveways for a fraction of that — reserved before you fly, documented, and your car sits in a driveway instead of a mega-lot.
A week in an airport lot runs $140–280. A week in a nearby driveway is a fraction of that — hosts set fair daily and weekly rates.
Booked before you fly. Your plate, dates, and pass on record — no circling economy hoping for a space.
Pick a driveway near your rideshare pickup or a transit stop. Some hosts even offer drop-off as a paid extra.
Travelers need 3–14 day parking every single week of the year. Your driveway near the airport can out-earn almost any other listing type — steady, predictable, year-round.
Find pull-through spaces, wide-clearance driveways, and commercial lots that actually fit your rig — semi-trucks, box trucks, RVs, and oversized vehicles welcome.
All "Big Rig" listings are host-verified to meet minimum commercial vehicle requirements.
Pull-through or pull-off access for long vehicles including semi-trailers.
Wide enough for dual rear-axle trucks and wide-load vehicles.
Gravel, concrete, or asphalt rated for commercial vehicle weight loads.
Many hosts offer 30-amp or 50-amp electrical hookups for overnight stops.
Freshwater fill and grey water dump stations at select locations.
Book by the night or by the week. No time limits during your reservation.
Safe, legal overnight stops away from crowded highway rest areas. Sleep better, drive safer.
Alternative to expensive RV parks. Hookups available at select hosts.
Secure staging area near job sites, warehouses, or city drop zones.
Trailers, grip trucks, and production vehicles need space — we have it.
Hosts with commercial-capable spaces can charge 2–4× standard rates. Truckers pay premium for safe, convenient stops.

Driveway Host works because hosts and guests treat each other — and the neighborhood — with respect. These aren't suggestions. They're requirements for every booking.
Violations of these standards may result in booking cancellation, account suspension, and forfeiture of payout or refund.
You're inviting a guest onto your property and into your neighborhood. These standards apply to every listing, every booking.
You're a visitor on someone's private property in their neighborhood. These standards are the minimum expected of every Driveway Host guest.
This applies to both hosts and guests. No engine idling, no music audible outside the vehicle, no raised voices, no doors slamming. Neighborhoods trust Driveway Host because our community respects this rule. Violations can result in immediate booking cancellation without refund.
Every Driveway Host booking generates a printable Window Placard in your confirmation email. It must be displayed in your windshield during any overnight stay.
The placard serves three purposes: it identifies your vehicle as a verified, booked guest (protecting you from neighbor complaints and police check-ins), it communicates the booking rules to anyone who needs to know, and it helps hosts verify guests at a glance.
The Driveway Host Window Shade is a foldable accordion sun visor with a built-in placard pocket. It fills the full windshield, displays your booking placard prominently, and doubles as a sun shade while you sleep. Available in the DH Store in standard and large vehicle sizes.
To report a standards violation, go to Help → Contact Us, or file a dispute from your booking dashboard. Our team reviews all reports within 24 hours.
We're inviting county, state, and federal parks and beaches to open permitted overnight parking through Driveway Host — issued exactly like our driveway bookings: dated pass, license plate on the placard, clear rules. Travelers get a safe, legal place to sleep. Streets stay clearer at night. Parks earn new permit revenue with zero new infrastructure.

Not driving is the right call — always. Here's how to do it legally and comfortably at any private driveway, in any state.
Most DUI laws target driving on public roads — but two doctrines can still reach you on private property.
Most DUI/DWI statutes only apply to operation on a public road, highway, or street. A private residential driveway is not a public road — giving you meaningful protection in most states. Commercial lots (bars, stadiums) are often treated as public by courts, even if privately owned.
Many states make it illegal to be in actual physical control of a vehicle while intoxicated — even without driving. Courts look at your seating position, key placement, and whether the engine is running. This doctrine can apply on private property in some states.
Where does your state fall? Find it below, then follow the universal rules regardless.
DUI statute requires operation on a public highway or road. Legally-booked private driveways offer meaningful protection — though APC factors still matter.
Broader statutes or APC provisions that courts have applied beyond public roads. Private property helps, but driver's seat + keys in ignition remains risky.
Statutes apply broadly or courts have explicitly sustained charges on private property. Follow every rule below without exception in these states.
The more of these that apply to you, the higher your risk — even on private property. Each one you eliminate helps your case.
Courts treat the driver's seat as presumptive evidence you could operate the vehicle. Moving to the back seat is the single most impactful thing you can do.
Even without the engine on, keys in the ignition signal intent to operate. Put them in your pocket, glove box, or trunk.
Running the engine for heat or AC is universally treated as operating the vehicle. Also a genuine carbon monoxide risk in driveways. Don't do it.
A secondary indicator that the vehicle was recently being operated. Turn all lights off before sleeping.
Some courts view someone asleep in the back seat as unable to exert control. Being alert in the driver's seat is worse than being asleep in the back.
Being properly parked entirely on private property reduces risk. Partially on a public road is bad. Fully on a booked private driveway is good.
Follow these regardless of your state's tier. They are the difference between a safe night and a very expensive morning.
Sleeping in your vehicle overnight requires a little planning beyond just the legal side. Here are your realistic restroom and hygiene options.
The easiest option. Many Driveway Host hosts are happy to allow restroom access if asked in advance. Just message them before arrival — most say yes. Add it to your booking message when you let them know you're staying overnight.
Purpose-made travel urination bags (like TravelJohn, Cleanwaste GO Anywhere, or Pibbs) are compact, odor-sealed, and turn liquid into a solid gel. Keep 2–3 in your glove box. They work for all genders, are available at Walmart/Amazon, and cost under $2 each. Dispose in any trash.
If you're sober enough to safely walk (not drive), most cities have 24-hour options nearby: Walgreens/CVS, McDonald's, gas stations, hotel lobbies, or hospital emergency entrances. Search "open now near me" on your phone before you settle in for the night.
A pack of body wash wipes (brands: Goodwipes, Dude Wipes Body, or hospital-grade bathing cloths) lets you freshen up in your car — face, underarms, hands — without needing a shower. They're pre-moistened with gentle cleanser and dry quickly. Invaluable for morning-after situations. Keep them in your glove box year-round.
Consider keeping a small kit in your car: 2–3 urination bags, a pack of body wipes, a travel toothbrush & toothpaste, a water bottle, and a small blanket. Total cost under $20. Takes up less space than a gym bag. You'll be glad it's there when you need it.
Don't urinate in public, on the host's property without permission, or anywhere visible. This is a separate legal issue (public indecency / disorderly conduct) that carries its own fines. Portable bags solve this cleanly and privately.
A privately-booked residential driveway is the legally safest place to sleep in a vehicle when impaired. Here's why it's fundamentally different from any other option:
Combine all of this with back-seat positioning, keys out of the ignition, and engine off — and you've done everything legally reasonable. The best plan is always a designated driver or rideshare. But when that's not an option, a booked private driveway is your best alternative.
Reserve a private driveway near the venue in advance. From $18/night across cities across the US — have a safe place to land, just in case.
